It’s top speed will also suffer for the same reason. The high mileage claimed and higher gearing suggests that keeping it real is actually keeping it on highways.

I sold a 2019 GS1250 but kept my 2017 Super Tenere 1200 because it's more spacious for my lady and me BUT just put a deposit for 2 Himalayans 452.... She's gonna learn riding and we'll tackle the world !!!!
I tried the 452 and decided to keep the 411 😊😊😊. I love the simple technique, the riding position and in my opinion the better and easier handling. I never had any issues and did several trips in Europe. My Himalayan ran 40.000 km, got a new service and now is ready for the next 40k 😂😂😂
I rode one of these in the Himalayas this year - give it a slap on the rear seat and it activates John Deere mode where these things will just chug like an old steam loco over any mountain you point it at. I would personally buy the 450 but the 411 is one of the best round the world bikes ever produced. It does need more maintenance but in remote areas of the world this is the sort of bike you can get serviced for a couple of dollars and a handful of almonds.
Had mine for 14 months. Ok, I mainly use it for back lanes in the colder months. Yes its under powered but can cruise at more than legal speeds and is quick enough to keep with traffic on all the roads within 60 miles of where I live. Cant see me changing it any time soon.
A bit of background : I've only been riding for about a year , but I've put 6,000 miles on my 2021 Himmy, which I bought last year from the original owner . GREAT bike to learn on , as I'm not a kid anymore . Have learned a lot, after doing the Motorcycle Safety Foundation class . VERY recently took a test drive on the 452 , and was truly impressed . Here's my concern : As I understand it , this is the first time Royal Enfield has used a LIQUID-COOLED engine in ANY of their bikes . I hope all the folks who take this path have NO problems, but I'm gonna wait until I start hearing /seeing some feed-back from known and respected bike reviewers about a year from now . I just don't want to be a "lab rat" .
I'm happy with the 411. One item to think about on the 452 are valve adjustments; shim under bucket = painful and expensive. Valve adjustments on the 411 = piece of cake.
There is no way I'll trade my beloved 411 for a 452. I luv the 411's agricultural appearance, it can tour two up with luggage and yes, even overtake and is superb off road. The 452 sure looks awesome, it is certainly well built. I wouldn't take a 452 to some of the places my 411 goes to on a regular basis. Not because I don't think the 452 is capable, but the 452 is just too damn nice a bike to get clarted up with mud, bounced off rocks, scraped traversing deep ruts and ridden through water splashes and muddy puddles on tracks etc. I haven't ridden a 452, but I know its an excellent bike. But I'm gonna keep my beloved 411 E4 tractor.
I'm keeping my 2023 Himilayan. Paid cash $5200 out the door. LOLOL I could have bought three of them for the Ducati it replaced! Cruises at 70 all day long and gets 60 mpg. Just did a 1200 mile trip through Nevada, some of it on Interstate 80 where the max speed limit was 80. Wasn't bad, got passed by some semi's, but not scary as I had feared. Great bike.
I just did an 1100mi 5-day tour chasing an Africa twin, a Moto guzzi, a Versys, and various other bikes with three times the horsepower. I may have been full throttle to keep up, but I saw all the same road and had just as much fun. Would rather keep my nuts and bolts bike for my needs.
My biggest draw back with trading up into a 452 right now is the service intervals. 1st Valve adjustment is at 6k miles, the 2nd ant 12k miles, then after the 2nd it’s every 12,000 miles after that. For a low compression modern single cylinder bike with shim over bucket sucks. I watched the process and it’s about 3 to 4x’s more than the 411. Right now the dealer I purchased my 411 from charges $650.00 for a 411 service, I bet it will be at least $800.00 for a 452 service. The dealer is also 90 minutes away so that sucks. Doing the 411 service is a breeze for me. Just about every modern non high compression Max is 15k plus for the 1st and all additional valve adjustments. I would definitely keep the cost of ownership in mind before rushing out to trade up or into.
I bought my 411 used. Thank you Baxter Cycle. It was dealer upgraded with a tec cam, free flow RE precision exhaust and intake. It's at 30hp now. It goes fast enough and can't justify a new bike for only a 9 hp gain. Keeping it. I may get something next for a highway cruiser like a roadking or roadglide. The 450 doesn't offer much wind protection as of now.
Hi, I’ve been watching the guys riding around India on the 450 and each and everyone of them just love it. I suppose it’s like anything if you like your 411 keep it and enjoy it but if you want something with a bit more get up and boogie and they sound so much more throaty. I’ve only got one leg unfortunately but if I had two legs I would be buying the Royal Enfield 450 and the good thing is they’re getting over 400 km out of a tank. The 411 actually has a better rear suspension if you do the upgrade . Plus, lift the 411 1 inch . No fly by wire garbage or a radiator . Just put a 460/470 big bore kit and upgrade the lesser parts . And you will have a part of history that runs well . 👏
Totally agree,,I,v had mine 5 yrs ,,its got a bigB kit and tec cam ,,upgraded suspension and a few other bits and bobs..it runs great ,,only 40 000miles why should I spend cash on another bike when I can spend it on other adventures.... I,m thinking of keeping maybe 10 yrs ,,then puttting it at the back of the shed and buy a CF Moto 450 MT Regards
@lipsee100 That's what I'm gonna do . Wait till they find out it has a fueling problem. It's just stalls out for no reason . And wait till those technologies start to fail and it will . There are reasons why the DR650/ XR650L/ are still big sellers . Just due to their simplicity and reliability that the high performance brands with all their headaches like KTM and some of the Huskys as well . To me, they are the same bikes with different badges.....

I v had it on now over 2 yrs and once you get it setup its great,,,after 4yrs of ownership my bike is worth very little ,,so its not worth changing until about 10yrs old (in 2028)..I intend to beat the hell out of it until then ,,after that it will live in the back of my shed,,,,and I will buy maybe a new RE or a CFmoto 450mt....
I sold my Himalayan 411 the day i got a reasonable offer. Not because I wanted to, but i definitely wanted a faster bike and I found 2022's sub 5k miles going for 2 grand on Facebook near me and I knew i wouldn't get a better offer. I was all in about 7 grand for my 411 after dealer fees and registration, and I didn't make half that on a 2 year old bike I bought new. The day i test rode a 452 i was sold and put a deposit on it. There is not one thing, besides arguably style and the attraction to simplicity, that the 411 does better than the 452.
Having the 411 for over a year now - the only issue I have with it is highway speed. But the 452 is simply a completly different bike. I love the look of the 411 MUCH more! I love the sound of the 411 MUCH MORE! Front brake can be improved. Seat of the 452 is wider...probably too wide now? When going long distances I have no problems with the/my 411 seat: it's been to a bike-seat-maker ;-) Sell 411 ? No! Even if I got the same price I payd when I bought it 2nd hand. It will stay as a 2nd or 3rd bike!
This vid speaks to my soul, after years of upgrades, I finally love my 2021 Himmy. The 30 hp is great and lots of fun, but I am still needing to constantly adjust the valves and the air cooled long stroke engine will always be a tweeker. So I too am fantasizing of a riding experience that is less maintenance focused and more carefree. A bike that is less demanding and more giving. I really enjoy and appreciate my 411, but have you ever tried to remove the battery? I noticed that the 450 is easy to pull and maintain, simple drop in, under the seat design. As far as selling my bike, I think the 411's and 450's have enough of a price spread, that the 411 will always have a market with the economy minded buyer. Here in South America, the 450 has about a 30% higher price tag than the 411's. So with all my upgrades, including cam and fuel-x, I think I would have no problem selling mine.
Amen to the battery comment!! I had to cut out pieces of the black casing to get it back in and getting to the terminals is ridiculous. I'm getting to Demo the 450 this Friday.... I can't wait to see how it compares.
Hi I've tested the the 450 it's very buzzy above 75 mph and you can really feel it on a long ride. My hands and feet were getting numb if you dropped it down to 70 mph it was fine the mid range power is good. I also didn't like the clock. I have a 411 and that will travel at 70 mph all day long and it also feels better at verry low speeds. I have never had the suspension bottom out and I ride pretty hard. Plus it's air-cooled simplicity go test ride the new one but put it through what you are going to use it for. I don't think it's a better bike I think it's just a different bike. All depends on your needs and how you want to use it. My roads are in Spain are mostly small with scenery like Arizona or Navada and it really suits it with lots of off-road trails.

Same problem here in UK, would get very little for my 411, so keeping it as a winter hack, also wouldn't like to be stung again by RE, so would go for a different bike manufacturer.
how have they stung you? no offence but that is silly talk, the himmy came out about 6 years back and was in desperate need of a refresh due to the competition coming in at the price bracket - if they did not make the 452 they would start losing money as people wouldn't keep buying the 411 indefinitely - they warned of the 452 for about 2 years in fairness and bike manufacturers need to make new bikes to survive , dont think this same story doesn't happen with a japanese or other brand
Nice video! I figured many 411 owners have this dilemma feeling. Personally I’m keeping my air cooled Himi, but mainly because I’ve modified it to perform better than the 452. Some other factors you probably won’t know until you ride the 452 is that it does not have as much road feel, it’s higher frequency buzzy, and the low end torque of the air cooled feels sooo good compared to the smooth and faster revig liquid cooled bike. But a big kicker is that the new bike is only a few $100 more MSRP than the old bike…wow. Almost worth keeping the air head and buying a liquid cooled bike ;)
What magic beans did you buy to get it to perform better than the 450? The cam? ...shocks? I love my 411, but wife enjoys riding too and with both of us and luggage...it can't get out of its own way.

I’ve an interceptor 650 and a 2023 himmi 411. A good news is that the new 411 scram is coming up with 6th gear and it will fit the 2023, 411 models… That’ll be the first thing that I’ll do on my himmi. 450 is too top heavy for my liking on adv rides
The 411 : THE ONE AND ONLY HIMALAYAN. Cheap to buy, run and (self) service with no real segment competitor on the market. Unlike the 450. I am sticking to mine. Royal-Enfield
I’m keeping my 2023 411. I’m going to take a wait and see approach. I’m always reluctant to buy the first iteration of an upgraded model. I’d much rather have the last version of a model than the first. Right now my dilemma is do I do a Performance Cam or just go all out on a big bore kit to get 462cc. In either case, the 450 isn’t in consideration.
@@skitchonwheels The Performance Cam with a high flow air intake and a high flow muffler will get you around 29 HP for a relatively inexpensive price. Whereas the 462cc big bore kit will get you around 40 HP but with a much larger price tag.
I put a big bore kit in my 411...up to 462 plus a high lift cam and some extras. Torque is up to near 40, power not so much. Makes a massive difference
I have never seen a road with a speed limit above 55 mph here in Norway, so its low speed is a non concern fortunately! I prefer the look of the 411 way more than the 452, so I will for sure buy a 411. If the 452 looked similar to the 411, I might pay the extra. It is so hard to find a 411 here though, so I have to buy used, but even then there is not much on the market.

I went to try the new one, and yes it does everything better, but for now i dont need it, i still feel i can do a lot whit my 411, so i keep it for a couple of years.

Having recently bought a used 411 with only 800 miles for super cheap, I agree that the resale values of the 411s are really taking a hit. Lots of dealers trying to dump new 2023 411s. I guess it’s a win for those looking for a great deal on a used 411.
Here's something that may put a spanner in the works, RE are bringing out a Scram 440 soonish (rumoured for January but I think it will be a bit later) which is based on the 411 air/oil cooled engine with a larger bore. I've heard it may bump it up to 28hp stock, and with mods it should easily get over 30hp I should think. The 440 will sit between the Scram 411 and Himalayan/Guerilla 450. Although it's on the Scram platform, not an adventure bike like the Himalayans. For most people who do mostly on road, the Scram is a better choice due to it's smaller 19'' front wheel and generally better road manners, but it still has the "bones" of the himalayan, just loses many of the adventure features as standard i.e. front luggage racks, centre stand etc. The 440 is being designed as a cheaper alternative to the new RE water cooled bikes, but I think it will attract the same buyers as the 411s, assuming the rest of the bike is similar to the current 411s. Aside from the bore increase, hopefully they will iteratively improve on the 411 engine in other ways, so in a sense this is a new air/oil cooled engine from RE, which is nice to see they are not abandoning their roots for all new modern style bikes. I think we will probably see a bunch of Scramalayans on the 440 platform; Scrams essentially made into Himalayans with mods e.g. centrestand etc. That said you can achieve the same (or better) with big bore kits on the current Scram, just that the 440 will be an improved bike from the factory.
im cheap, i like looks, 411, tec, 16 tooth, irridium plug etc, etc, etc. bike born on a remote cattle station, done the yards, always loved the look, so there will always be bigger, better blah blah. May trade for a brough superior one day. lol. love the 411 him.
I disagree about you assessment of the 411's. I think people are going to be looking for them as they aren't produced. It may take a few months or longer but itll be a rare bird people will want to buy. I have the 411 w cam and gearing upgrades and love it. Why would anyone get the 1st year model of any motorcycle. Anyway one big reason not to get 450 is fly-by-wire. If it goes out, you're screwed. 450 is very purpose built for more off road. For my back road travel its perfect. I keeping. If i get anything itll be the super meteor 650 cruiser.a
I am *this close* to buying a 411. Leftover '23's are $4500 OTD. While I am very impressed with the 450 I don't feel it's worth $3k more. I think new leftover 411 prices will continue to fall the closer we get to the 450 appearing in dealer showrooms.
Commenting as a non-biker (thuogh starting to think seriously about getting an RE). I would probably go for a used 411 Scram, learn the baby steps, see how it works for me and maybe later go for a different bike. Or just get a 350 Classic and relax - I am 44 after all :D

I'm in South Australia and there are no secondhand Himalayan 410 models on bike sales, with the 450 released in May. I guess, there is room in the market for both bikes. I find the 450 a better bike, but miss the 410.
I have a 2021 Himalayan with 7000 miles on it. To me it's not worth the hit you'll take to trade it, so if you can afford to have both bikes, that's what I'd do. Nothing wrong with 2 bikes!
Loved my 411. Sold it with low miles and mods very clean for almost $4k on marketplace in one day and picked up the first 450 in Phoenix the same day. Plenty of market for the 411 out there still.
I brought a 500 mile run 2023 model titled in March 2024 for $4,000 from a private party. Also had a few upgrades on it. It is a good smoking deal if I can keep it for few years. This is my second Himalayan and I intend to use this only for gravel and some light offroad. I want a slow and simple bike for those moments. A powerful, expensive and heavy GSA at my skill level is not something I want to take offroad. With a 3 year warranty, easy and cheap to fix at home, its a no brainer. Just cant make it your primary go everywhere bike. Already seeing people selling older ones for parts. I would say dont trade in. Sell private.

There is a lot of hype about the new 452 himmi at the moment but it still has to prove itself. Wait two years and see what problems the bike causes you and what you pay for maintenance in the workshops!
Do you upgrade from the 411 to the 452 it all depends on how rich you are. I still wish I'd kept my 500 Classic with the sidecar fitted as it was so much fun. If you're thinking about getting the 452 check out Itchy Boots page as she did a riding review in India of them on her channel.
You can put rim locks on wheels. That's no big deal . Even when I had any of my Harley's 70mph, it was my pace 80 to pass and when in trouble with the wife 105 . But not too many marriage issues. Whew . But all kidding aside 70 is fast enough, and for the most part, you always have good power when needed in the lower gears . It's great in the woods . And guess what in the nasty those ktm are doing the same speed as any other R.E.
My 411 gets me into trouble by taking 4WD tracks on 70/30 tires, and going to areas alone with no phone signal. It's a naughty bike. I'm thinking the 452 would get me into even more trouble.
I think you contradict yourself, saying 411 is too high, meanwhile its 800 mm seat height is very nice for beginners or shorter riders. When himalayan seat height is 825 mm, or you can buy the lower seat for extra money, and will end up with 805 mm anyway
32RWHP on my modified Himalayan and 38nm, overbored to 443cc (same liner) stage 2 cam, 34mm throttle body, 0 to 100kph 7seconds. Wouldn't touch the new one and not allowed over 110kph anyhow.
Yep just bought another 411 ....it stands on its own with a truck load of character & charm ,if you wanted a.. 'better'.. bike why not just buy one in the first instance.....the 411 will be a classic in time, the 452 will not.
Have the 2019 411 Himalayan just bought the 452 slate blue, going to keep my 411, new bike for longer rides, 411 for shorter rides, really like them both. Have 25,000 on 411, 500 miles on 452, shift more on new bike. Still like my 411, so keeping it. SJ
The problem is that there is no reason why anybody would want a 411. It was a bad motorcycle, and now that the 452 has been upgraded in every conceivable way, without a price increase, those 411s are worth $500. The dealers are going to have a tough time selling out the remaining new 411 inventory. The second hand 411 owners are going to have a tough time with trades and private sales alike.
The 411 and the 452 two are completely different bikes. The 411 is a bit slow and agricultural, but it is reliable, comfortable and great fun! Good off-road capabilities. THe 452 is a much more modern machine, with a lot more performance and fancy bits like 'upside-down' forks. It's much quicker, but the revvy engine is quite buzzy at motorway (freeway , if you must) speeds. Off-road capabilities, as yet, largely unproven. The two bikes are not really comparable in the dynamic sense, they share a model name, that's about it. I wouldn't buy any 'new' model of motorcycle for a couple of years, let the inevitable 'glitches' be somebody else's problem for now. As with all motorcycles, everything comes down to what the owner wants from the motorcycle. Motorway journeys? I'd go for the 452. Pretty much everything else, I'd stick with the 411. I hate motorways, so I'm sticking to the 411. Just some thoughts. Love and peace.

Im keeping my 411 ! If I wanted a bike with technology crap I would had bought one . Plus the 411 is much better at the bottom revs . Bikes wont give it all to you . Its one or the other usally.....

ADV bikes will always be heavier than a dual-purpose bike for traveling reasons . This is why I never went for a big ADV bike . It's just a waste of money . All those modes are a joke . We don't need hand warmers or/and heated seats . Or modes to dum down a bike or air suspension is actually stupid . If I were to buy, besides my 411 is a T7 . Keep your computer garbage. Shit most people can't really fix their own bike anymore. And my 411 cooks down the road . Ok, it has some weakness at the top, but that's nothing that a cam can't correct . You are probably one of those people who buys a stock bike and keeps it stock . Which their nothing wrong with that . But it doesn't give you any right to speak on things that you know nothing about......
Very strange view to judge people's choice on. I have Ducati S4RS and a 411. And can definitely afford a 450 but prefer the 411 after test riding the 450. Perhaps you just don't get it it's not just about speed and power.
@markjacobs3956 That's not really making your point. I'm opposite to all you have said. In fact, I have not used the Ducati in over a year since I've had the himmy. Most of us are not saying we dislike the new bike. We just prefer the old one. I bought mine because of the simplicity of it. If I wanted a new modern bike, I still wouldn't buy the new one now. I've tested it, and there are definitely better bikes out there than the sherpa. Have you tried both?

And even though it has Shim and bucket it still needs adjustment checks a lot more than most other modern LC motorcycles. The 1st two are every 6k miles then 12k after that. I watched the process and it’s definitely a lot more extensive than the 411 which can be don’t in about an hour in my garage.
Bought my 2023 411 in August of last year. I have beat the hell out of it in the desert trails of New Mexico and the mountain trails of Washington. I love the bike, but will be trading it in for a 450 Ibex. It will be a sad day, but I feel it has served its purpose in the past year (a great little tractor that can pretty much go anywhere). The 411 is nice and all, but a parallel twin, tubeless tires, adjustable suspension and lighter weight is a no brainer for me on the Ibex. The 450 Himmy looks great to be honest, but it’s not adding enough excitement for me when it comes to features.
The 411 is pretty straight forward. I don't like the access to the battery though compared to the 450. Comments on here say the 450 will be harder to do it yourself because of the new engine. ww will see
@@skitchonwheels Is the 450 a shim type valve adjustment or screw and nut like the 411? A radiator and coolant to deal with will also require more maintenance.
Dont ever sell the 411. This new 450 will be a huge flop. and 411 will become gold. I got the 411 almost the last off the production line, knowing the 450 will not be successful even before it launched. in India the 450 sales are started to nose dive. in a year or two, it will be phased out.
If the trade in(trade up) price is low, then if you are enjoying the bike,, surly you are getting good value because you are riding a bike thats not worth much money.... Now if thats the case.... Why would you want to invest more money on a new bike, if you are happy with the old.....its nonsensical to me... but I know nothing
Option Buy the dang bike, and promise yourself you’ll ride it for 5 years. Save your marriage. Option two: tell yourself these are two completely different bikes that happen to have the same name. A different engine, suspension, transmission, seat, gas tank, gewgaws, doodads, and thingemmajigs. It is a completely different bike. Keep your old bike. Become a sad divorcée.

I tried the 452 and decided to keep the 411 😊😊😊. I love the simple technique, the riding position and in my opinion the better and easier handling. I never had any issues and did several trips in Europe. My Himalayan ran 40.000 km, got a new service and now is ready for the next 40k 😂😂😂
I rode one of these in the Himalayas this year - give it a slap on the rear seat and it activates John Deere mode where these things will just chug like an old steam loco over any mountain you point it at.
I would personally buy the 450 but the 411 is one of the best round the world bikes ever produced. It does need more maintenance but in remote areas of the world this is the sort of bike you can get serviced for a couple of dollars and a handful of almonds.

Had mine for 14 months. Ok, I mainly use it for back lanes in the colder months. Yes its under powered but can cruise at more than legal speeds and is quick enough to keep with traffic on all the roads within 60 miles of where I live. Cant see me changing it any time soon.

A bit of background : I've only been riding for about a year , but I've put 6,000 miles on my 2021 Himmy, which I bought last year from the original owner . GREAT bike to learn on , as I'm not a kid anymore . Have learned a lot, after doing the Motorcycle Safety Foundation class . VERY recently took a test drive on the 452 , and was truly impressed . Here's my concern : As I understand it , this is the first time Royal Enfield has used a LIQUID-COOLED engine in ANY of their bikes . I hope all the folks who take this path have NO problems, but I'm gonna wait until I start hearing /seeing some feed-back from known and respected bike reviewers about a year from now . I just don't want to be a "lab rat" .

I'm happy with the 411. One item to think about on the 452 are valve adjustments; shim under bucket = painful and expensive. Valve adjustments on the 411 = piece of cake.

I luv the 411's agricultural appearance, it can tour two up with luggage and yes, even overtake and is superb off road.
The 452 sure looks awesome, it is certainly well built. I wouldn't take a 452 to some of the places my 411 goes to on a regular basis. Not because I don't think the 452 is capable, but the 452 is just too damn nice a bike to get clarted up with mud, bounced off rocks, scraped traversing deep ruts and ridden through water splashes and muddy puddles on tracks etc.
I haven't ridden a 452, but I know its an excellent bike. But I'm gonna keep my beloved 411 E4 tractor.

I'm keeping my 2023 Himilayan. Paid cash $5200 out the door. LOLOL I could have bought three of them for the Ducati it replaced! Cruises at 70 all day long and gets 60 mpg. Just did a 1200 mile trip through Nevada, some of it on Interstate 80 where the max speed limit was 80. Wasn't bad, got passed by some semi's, but not scary as I had feared. Great bike.
At $5200, you will get your money's worth for sure!
I just did an 1100mi 5-day tour chasing an Africa twin, a Moto guzzi, a Versys, and various other bikes with three times the horsepower. I may have been full throttle to keep up, but I saw all the same road and had just as much fun. Would rather keep my nuts and bolts bike for my needs.
My biggest draw back with trading up into a 452 right now is the service intervals. 1st Valve adjustment is at 6k miles, the 2nd ant 12k miles, then after the 2nd it’s every 12,000 miles after that.
For a low compression modern single cylinder bike with shim over bucket sucks. I watched the process and it’s about 3 to 4x’s more than the 411. Right now the dealer I purchased my 411 from charges $650.00 for a 411 service, I bet it will be at least $800.00 for a 452 service. The dealer is also 90 minutes away so that sucks. Doing the 411 service is a breeze for me.
Just about every modern non high compression Max is 15k plus for the 1st and all additional valve adjustments.
I would definitely keep the cost of ownership in mind before rushing out to trade up or into.

I bought my 411 used. Thank you Baxter Cycle. It was dealer upgraded with a tec cam, free flow RE precision exhaust and intake. It's at 30hp now. It goes fast enough and can't justify a new bike for only a 9 hp gain. Keeping it. I may get something next for a highway cruiser like a roadking or roadglide. The 450 doesn't offer much wind protection as of now.

Hi, I’ve been watching the guys riding around India on the 450 and each and everyone of them just love it. I suppose it’s like anything if you like your 411 keep it and enjoy it but if you want something with a bit more get up and boogie and they sound so much more throaty. I’ve only got one leg unfortunately but if I had two legs I would be buying the Royal Enfield 450 and the good thing is they’re getting over 400 km out of a tank. The 411 actually has a better rear suspension if you do the upgrade . Plus, lift the 411 1 inch . No fly by wire garbage or a radiator . Just put a 460/470 big bore kit and upgrade the lesser parts . And you will have a part of history that runs well . 👏
Totally agree,,I,v had mine 5 yrs ,,its got a bigB kit and tec cam ,,upgraded suspension and a few other bits and bobs..it runs great ,,only 40 000miles why should I spend cash on another bike when I can spend it on other adventures.... I,m thinking of keeping maybe 10 yrs ,,then puttting it at the back of the shed and buy a CF Moto 450 MT Regards
@lipsee100 That's what I'm gonna do . Wait till they find out it has a fueling problem. It's just stalls out for no reason . And wait till those technologies start to fail and it will . There are reasons why the DR650/ XR650L/ are still big sellers . Just due to their simplicity and reliability that the high performance brands with all their headaches like KTM and some of the Huskys as well . To me, they are the same bikes with different badges.....

I v had it on now over 2 yrs and once you get it setup its great,,,after 4yrs of ownership my bike is worth very little ,,so its not worth changing until about 10yrs old (in 2028)..I intend to beat the hell out of it until then ,,after that it will live in the back of my shed,,,,and I will buy maybe a new RE or a CFmoto 450mt....
I sold my Himalayan 411 the day i got a reasonable offer. Not because I wanted to, but i definitely wanted a faster bike and I found 2022's sub 5k miles going for 2 grand on Facebook near me and I knew i wouldn't get a better offer. I was all in about 7 grand for my 411 after dealer fees and registration, and I didn't make half that on a 2 year old bike I bought new. The day i test rode a 452 i was sold and put a deposit on it. There is not one thing, besides arguably style and the attraction to simplicity, that the 411 does better than the 452.
Having the 411 for over a year now - the only issue I have with it is highway speed.
But the 452 is simply a completly different bike.

This vid speaks to my soul, after years of upgrades, I finally love my 2021 Himmy. The 30 hp is great and lots of fun, but I am still needing to constantly adjust the valves and the air cooled long stroke engine will always be a tweeker. So I too am fantasizing of a riding experience that is less maintenance focused and more carefree. A bike that is less demanding and more giving. I really enjoy and appreciate my 411, but have you ever tried to remove the battery? I noticed that the 450 is easy to pull and maintain, simple drop in, under the seat design. As far as selling my bike, I think the 411's and 450's have enough of a price spread, that the 411 will always have a market with the economy minded buyer. Here in South America, the 450 has about a 30% higher price tag than the 411's. So with all my upgrades, including cam and fuel-x, I think I would have no problem selling mine.
Amen to the battery comment!! I had to cut out pieces of the black casing to get it back in and getting to the terminals is ridiculous. I'm getting to Demo the 450 this Friday.... I can't wait to see how it compares.

Hi I've tested the the 450 it's very buzzy above 75 mph and you can really feel it on a long ride. My hands and feet were getting numb if you dropped it down to 70 mph it was fine the mid range power is good. I also didn't like the clock. I have a 411 and that will travel at 70 mph all day long and it also feels better at verry low speeds. I have never had the suspension bottom out and I ride pretty hard. Plus it's air-cooled simplicity go test ride the new one but put it through what you are going to use it for. I don't think it's a better bike I think it's just a different bike. All depends on your needs and how you want to use it. My roads are in Spain are mostly small with scenery like Arizona or Navada and it really suits it with lots of off-road trails.
I'm keeping mine (so is my wife), it goes where we ride. Maybe in a few years.
It's hard to let go of something so functional and good at what it does. I think a test ride will answer my question about the new 450.

Same problem here in UK, would get very little for my 411, so keeping it as a winter hack, also wouldn't like to be stung again by RE, so would go for a different bike manufacturer.
how have they stung you? no offence but that is silly talk, the himmy came out about 6 years back and was in desperate need of a refresh due to the competition coming in at the price bracket - if they did not make the 452 they would start losing money as people wouldn't keep buying the 411 indefinitely - they warned of the 452 for about 2 years in fairness and bike manufacturers need to make new bikes to survive , dont think this same story doesn't happen with a japanese or other brand
Nice video! I figured many 411 owners have this dilemma feeling. Personally I’m keeping my air cooled Himi, but mainly because I’ve modified it to perform better than the 452. Some other factors you probably won’t know until you ride the 452 is that it does not have as much road feel, it’s higher frequency buzzy, and the low end torque of the air cooled feels sooo good compared to the smooth and faster revig liquid cooled bike. But a big kicker is that the new bike is only a few $100 more MSRP than the old bike…wow. Almost worth keeping the air head and buying a liquid cooled bike ;)

I’ve an interceptor 650 and a 2023 himmi 411. A good news is that the new 411 scram is coming up with 6th gear and it will fit the 2023, 411 models… That’ll be the first thing that I’ll do on my himmi.

I’m keeping my 2023 411. I’m going to take a wait and see approach. I’m always reluctant to buy the first iteration of an upgraded model. I’d much rather have the last version of a model than the first. Right now my dilemma is do I do a Performance Cam or just go all out on a big bore kit to get 462cc. In either case, the 450 isn’t in consideration.
Do you know what the HP is if you do the cam or big bore kit?
@@skitchonwheels The Performance Cam with a high flow air intake and a high flow muffler will get you around 29 HP for a relatively inexpensive price. Whereas the 462cc big bore kit will get you around 40 HP but with a much larger price tag.
I put a big bore kit in my 411...up to 462 plus a high lift cam and some extras. Torque is up to near 40, power not so much. Makes a massive difference

I have never seen a road with a speed limit above 55 mph here in Norway, so its low speed is a non concern fortunately!
I prefer the look of the 411 way more than the 452, so I will for sure buy a 411. If the 452 looked similar to the 411, I might pay the extra. It is so hard to find a 411 here though, so I have to buy used, but even then there is not much on the market.
You won't be disappointed with the 411, I prefer it's look as well. We used to be 55mph years ago, now we're up to 75 in some areas.
I too think the old 411 is the more handsome bike. The new one has a gas tank the shape of turds.

Having recently bought a used 411 with only 800 miles for super cheap, I agree that the resale values of the 411s are really taking a hit. Lots of dealers trying to dump new 2023 411s. I guess it’s a win for those looking for a great deal on a used 411.

Here's something that may put a spanner in the works, RE are bringing out a Scram 440 soonish (rumoured for January but I think it will be a bit later) which is based on the 411 air/oil cooled engine with a larger bore. I've heard it may bump it up to 28hp stock, and with mods it should easily get over 30hp I should think. The 440 will sit between the Scram 411 and Himalayan/Guerilla 450.
Although it's on the Scram platform, not an adventure bike like the Himalayans. For most people who do mostly on road, the Scram is a better choice due to it's smaller 19'' front wheel and generally better road manners, but it still has the "bones" of the himalayan, just loses many of the adventure features as standard i.e. front luggage racks, centre stand etc.
The 440 is being designed as a cheaper alternative to the new RE water cooled bikes, but I think it will attract the same buyers as the 411s, assuming the rest of the bike is similar to the current 411s. Aside from the bore increase, hopefully they will iteratively improve on the 411 engine in other ways, so in a sense this is a new air/oil cooled engine from RE, which is nice to see they are not abandoning their roots for all new modern style bikes.
I think we will probably see a bunch of Scramalayans on the 440 platform; Scrams essentially made into Himalayans with mods e.g. centrestand etc. That said you can achieve the same (or better) with big bore kits on the current Scram, just that the 440 will be an improved bike from the factory.

I disagree about you assessment of the 411's. I think people are going to be looking for them as they aren't produced. It may take a few months or longer but itll be a rare bird people will want to buy. I have the 411 w cam and gearing upgrades and love it. Why would anyone get the 1st year model of any motorcycle. Anyway one big reason not to get 450 is fly-by-wire. If it goes out, you're screwed. 450 is very purpose built for more off road. For my back road travel its perfect. I keeping. If i get anything itll be the super meteor 650 cruiser.a
I am *this close* to buying a 411. Leftover '23's are $4500 OTD. While I am very impressed with the 450 I don't feel it's worth $3k more. I think new leftover 411 prices will continue to fall the closer we get to the 450 appearing in dealer showrooms.

Commenting as a non-biker (thuogh starting to think seriously about getting an RE). I would probably go for a used 411 Scram, learn the baby steps, see how it works for me and maybe later go for a different bike. Or just get a 350 Classic and relax - I am 44 after all :D

I'm in South Australia and there are no secondhand Himalayan 410 models on bike sales, with the 450 released in May. I guess, there is room in the market for both bikes. I find the 450 a better bike, but miss the 410.

I have a 2021 Himalayan with 7000 miles on it. To me it's not worth the hit you'll take to trade it, so if you can afford to have both bikes, that's what I'd do. Nothing wrong with 2 bikes!

Loved my 411. Sold it with low miles and mods very clean for almost $4k on marketplace in one day and picked up the first 450 in Phoenix the same day. Plenty of market for the 411 out there still.

The biggest turn off about the 450 for me is that tft display, I'd keep the 411 just for the beautiful analogue instrument cluster.
I brought a 500 mile run 2023 model titled in March 2024 for $4,000 from a private party. Also had a few upgrades on it. It is a good smoking deal if I can keep it for few years. This is my second Himalayan and I intend to use this only for gravel and some light offroad. I want a slow and simple bike for those moments. A powerful, expensive and heavy GSA at my skill level is not something I want to take offroad. With a 3 year warranty, easy and cheap to fix at home, its a no brainer. Just cant make it your primary go everywhere bike.
Already seeing people selling older ones for parts. I would say dont trade in. Sell private.

Do you upgrade from the 411 to the 452 it all depends on how rich you are. I still wish I'd kept my 500 Classic with the sidecar fitted as it was so much fun. If you're thinking about getting the 452 check out Itchy Boots page as she did a riding review in India of them on her channel.
You can put rim locks on wheels. That's no big deal . Even when I had any of my Harley's 70mph, it was my pace 80 to pass and when in trouble with the wife 105 . But not too many marriage issues. Whew . But all kidding aside 70 is fast enough, and for the most part, you always have good power when needed in the lower gears . It's great in the woods . And guess what in the nasty those ktm are doing the same speed as any other R.E.
Keeping my 23, I’ve been in love with them since they came out. I’ve ridden the 450c it really is that good.
My 411 gets me into trouble by taking 4WD tracks on 70/30 tires, and going to areas alone with no phone signal. It's a naughty bike. I'm thinking the 452 would get me into even more trouble.

I think you contradict yourself, saying 411 is too high, meanwhile its 800 mm seat height is very nice for beginners or shorter riders. When himalayan seat height is 825 mm, or you can buy the lower seat for extra money, and will end up with 805 mm anyway

32RWHP on my modified Himalayan and 38nm, overbored to 443cc (same liner) stage 2 cam, 34mm throttle body, 0 to 100kph 7seconds. Wouldn't touch the new one and not allowed over 110kph anyhow.

The problem is that there is no reason why anybody would want a 411. It was a bad motorcycle, and now that the 452 has been upgraded in every conceivable way, without a price increase, those 411s are worth $500. The dealers are going to have a tough time selling out the remaining new 411 inventory. The second hand 411 owners are going to have a tough time with trades and private sales alike.
The 411 and the 452 two are completely different bikes. The 411 is a bit slow and agricultural, but it is reliable, comfortable and great fun! Good off-road capabilities.
THe 452 is a much more modern machine, with a lot more performance and fancy bits like 'upside-down' forks. It's much quicker, but the revvy engine is quite buzzy at motorway (freeway , if you must) speeds. Off-road capabilities, as yet, largely unproven.
The two bikes are not really comparable in the dynamic sense, they share a model name, that's about it.
I wouldn't buy any 'new' model of motorcycle for a couple of years, let the inevitable 'glitches' be somebody else's problem for now.
As with all motorcycles, everything comes down to what the owner wants from the motorcycle. Motorway journeys? I'd go for the 452. Pretty much everything else, I'd stick with the 411.
I hate motorways, so I'm sticking to the 411.

No. No their not. The 650, 411, and 350 are being phased out. 450 and 750 water cooled are the next gens.
Simple. There have been bikes like the 450 out for years. Why has the 411 sold so well? Simplicity air cooled.
Im keeping my 411 ! If I wanted a bike with technology crap I would had bought one . Plus the 411 is much better at the bottom revs . Bikes wont give it all to you . Its one or the other usally.....
The guys who have a 411 that say they don't like the 452 either like mini bike power or can't afford the new one.

Even 40 mph is fast off rode . What I'm usually seeing most people riding 20 to 40 mph on trails . So your argument is voided . ADV bikes will always be heavier than a dual-purpose bike for traveling reasons . This is why I never went for a big ADV bike . It's just a waste of money . All those modes are a joke . We don't need hand warmers or/and heated seats . Or modes to dum down a bike or air suspension is actually stupid . If I were to buy, besides my 411 is a T7 . Keep your computer garbage. Very strange view to judge people's choice on. I have Ducati S4RS and a 411. And can definitely afford a 450 but prefer the 411 after test riding the 450. Perhaps you just don't get it it's not just about speed and power.

@markjacobs3956 That's not really making your point. I'm opposite to all you have said. In fact, I have not used the Ducati in over a year since I've had the himmy. Most of us are not saying we dislike the new bike. We just prefer the old one. I bought mine because of the simplicity of it. If I wanted a new modern bike, I still wouldn't buy the new one now. I've tested it, and there are definitely better bikes out there than the sherpa. Have you tried both?

no deal ! because the 411 is a long stroke engine, the 450 not!!! you cannot compare the 411 with the 450 , they are different bikes
411 has 5 speeds because it does not have the power to pull a sixth gear, 452 is butt ugly and has shim adjustable valves so not so simple to work on.
Done 80,000miles on my four year old 411 without any issues in all conditions & terrains.
Love it so much I've bought another 411 brand new before they become unavailable.
They'll do legal top speeds & everything else...what a bike.
Oh, as for 5 or 6 speed...one up on the front sprocket makes it glide with ease at 70mph & will do 85.

And even though it has Shim and bucket it still needs adjustment checks a lot more than most other modern LC motorcycles. The 1st two are every 6k miles then 12k after that. I watched the process and it’s definitely a lot more extensive than the 411 which can be don’t in about an hour in my garage.

Bought my 2023 411 in August of last year. I have beat the hell out of it in the desert trails of New Mexico and the mountain trails of Washington. I love the bike, but will be trading it in for a 450 Ibex. It will be a sad day, but I feel it has served its purpose in the past year (a great little tractor that can pretty much go anywhere). The 411 is nice and all, but a parallel twin, tubeless tires, adjustable suspension and lighter weight is a no brainer for me on the Ibex. The 450 Himmy looks great to be honest, but it’s not adding enough excitement for me when it comes to features.

How easy is the new bike to maintain? Both bikes seem rather porky to me.
The 411 is pretty straight forward. I don't like the access to the battery though compared to the 450. Comments on here say the 450 will be harder to do it yourself because of the new engine. ww will see
@@skitchonwheels Is the 450 a shim type valve adjustment or screw and nut like the 411? A radiator and coolant to deal with will also require more maintenance.
Dont ever sell the 411. This new 450 will be a huge flop. and 411 will become gold. I got the 411 almost the last off the production line, knowing the 450 will not be successful even before it launched. in India the 450 sales are started to nose dive. in a year or two, it will be phased out.
Time will tell. I think they are just now showing up in the states.
If the trade in(trade up) price is low, then if you are enjoying the bike,, surly you are getting good value because you are riding a bike thats not worth much money.... Now if thats the case.... Why would you want to invest more money on a new bike, if you are happy with the old.....its nonsensical to me... but I know nothing

Buy the dang bike, and promise yourself you’ll ride it for 5 years. Save your marriage.
Option two: tell yourself these are two completely different bikes that happen to have the same name. A different engine, suspension, transmission, seat, gas tank, gewgaws, doodads, and thingemmajigs. It is a completely different bike. Keep your old bike. Become a sad divorcée.
